Tree planting events have already begun with loads of schools receiving their share of our 50,000 tree target. Professor David Bellamy himself has also turned up at a few events to pass on his expert tree-planting knowledge. “printing.com are making a brilliant effort right across the country with their Tree Appeal target. Today they really got stuck in, planting those trees and helping create new homes for lots of lovely birds and bugs and butterflies”, he commented.Alex Macintosh, Year 3 teacher in charge of school environment at St Oswald’s, Guisley said, “It’s been a lovely day – the children have learned so much from Professor Bellamy about how important it is to look after their environment here at school. It’s great to have a local business like printing.com that cares about the environment and supports education.”
printing.com were also part of West Wimbledon Schools National Tree Week. Trees were donated for their planting event in association with Groundwork and BBC breathing places. “It was a great day – the children really enjoyed themselves and the whole thing was a great success” said Caroline Birchall of Groundwork London. “Thank you to all the printing.com volunteers who came along, the help was very much appreciated”.
We’re 80% towards our 50,000 tree target and we’ve got lots of trees to plant. Does your local school want free trees? We’ve had thousands of nominations so far but there’s still time to nominate your school at www.printing.com/schools
Trees for Bestival
The Tree Appeal team braved the rain and the mud to make it to the Isle of Wight last September – all in the name of making Bestival the greenest festival of 2008! David Bellamy was on hand to help spread the message about planting trees and creating woodland habitat for lots of lovely animals. Festival-goers were asked to make donations towards planting trees with each tree being matched by printing.com – doubling the amount of trees planted for the festival.
